A coastal town, is
situated in the southern portion of the Costa del Maresme. Its coarse sand beach forms the backdrop
for a calm sea which is ideal for all sorts of water
sports. The Sant Nicolau de Bari Parish Church, a
large building, is known as "the Cathedral of the
Coast". It's very pleasant to take a walk through
the square Plaça de l'Església, the street Carrer
del Mar and the Can Campassol gardens. The bustling
street Carrer Sant Esteve, which is the commercial
hub of the town, boasts very interesting homes
surrounded by gardens, such as the Torre de
l'Esquena or the Torre de Rossinyol, the modernist
Torre de Ca l'Arnau and the Old Hospital (founded
for the poor in 1443, it was built on the
foundations of an even older "masia" or farmhouse)
with its Gothic chapel. is a summer
destination resort which today sports a good number
of modern hotels, apartments, campgrounds, and a
complete range of services.
Tourist capital of the Costa del
Maresme, is a full-fledged resort town. With its
broad coarse sand beach stretching over 3 km, a
large hotel infrastructure, with campgrounds to suit
all needs, with leisure and fun ensured at
nightfall... This and much more have made
one of the prime destination resorts in all of
Europe. The scenery, full of sharp-edged cliffs
carved out by the sea's never-ending pounding, gives
us an idea of the proximity of the Costa Brava. The
town's lighthouse, inaugurated in 1859, is located
on a hill atop the entry to the town and has become
one of its most familiar landmarks. Suggested visits
include the Santa Maria Archpriest's Church, a
Neo-Classical edifice with Baroque portico; the Giol,
Bartrina, Galceran and Sivilla Houses, as well as
the Chapel of Sant Quirze and Santa Julita. The
Museum-Archives and the Gallart Pinacotheque are
also worth a visit. Another visit where your time
will certainly be well spent is the Dalmau Park, a
park with a garden area, pergolas and a beautiful
wooded corner, just the right counterpoint after an
intense day out on the beach.
COSTA BRAVA
History may have given
way to high-rise hotels, and fishing to foam parties
in this former Catalonian trading port, but the
region’s fiery spirit is still evident, which is why
Lloret de Mar is regarded as the liveliest holiday
spot on the Costa Brava. As a resort the town caters
for the 18-30s and families with children. There are
seemingly hundreds of British bars, discos and clubs
to choose from, and the days are packed with
programmes of beach frolics and fun. The resort has
five rough sandy beaches, a massive water park,
aquatic zoo and a theme park. For a taste of the
real Spain visitors can revel in the local cuisine
or gather in the town’s Placa de la Vila on Saturday
evenings to join in when locals dance the
traditional Catalonian Sardana dance.
The most southerly resort on the Costa Brava,
not only attracts international tourists but is also
frequented by large numbers of Spanish holidaymakers.
Like most coastal towns. Has grown from a
picturesque fishing village to tourist boomtown. The
resort has a two-mile (3km) long stretch of
coastline offering sandy bays and rocky coves, the
main beachfront lined with high-rise hotels and
apartment blocks. Behind the seafront the town still
retains some reminders of its past, like the
medieval castle of St Joan, several churches and
other ancient buildings. Pride of the town are two
renowned botanical gardens, which boast thousands of
plant species. Along with all the trappings of
modern tourism, Also prides itself in giving
visitors a taste of the real Spain, offering
traditional street markets, several fiestas and folk
dancing fairs.
MENORCA
Menorca certainly has
a very strong personality, and a very different one
to the rest of the islands. Menorca, the "minor"
island, as it was called by Romans, has an almost
virginal interior and shows interesting remains of
its old history. On the other hand, there are
beaches and lonely bays around it at a lengthof 216
kilometers. An ideal resort for all those who are
looking for true relaxation
COSTA BLANCA
An authentic
tourist resort, with clean, golden beaches of
outstanding quality. Modern buildings and wide
avenues, hotels to suit everyone, a warm climate
encouraging visitors to come 365 days a year.
Whether you want an active or a restful and relaxing
holiday - it's yours for the asking, day or night.
Nightlife or beachlife. And above all, a city which
is accustomed to giving its all, in order to make
guests feel at home. Benidorm, with the theme park
Terra Mítica and other attractions like Terra
Natura, Mundomar and Aqualandia has become a
favourite place to go for Mediterranean
civilisations, fauna and nature. A fun place for
culture, for all ages.
COSTA DAURADA
Salou, tourist centre
of the Costa Daurada, known for its varied leisure
attractions, gardens, quality, sandy beaches, good
weather... and the fantastic Universal Mediterránea.
It enjoys an excellent geographical location that
combines leisure and culture: numerous golf options
and a variety of visits and excursions ranging from
just a few minutes away to a one-hour trip: Roman
Tarragona, the Modernist Reus, the Delta del Ebro,
Barcelona with all of its architectural potential
and cultural feeling; monuments, monasteries,
charterhouses and works of all types explain the
long history of this land and overwhelm the visitor
with curiosity.
In short, this Coast offers all the possibilities,
including good nightlife, with an international
clientele that brings a charming variety to the
golden night.
COSTA ALMERIA
Mojácar is, above all,
tranquillity, space, nature, gastronomy and art. It
is a privilege that brings together individuality
and comfort. Long beaches, many of which are totally
virgin with no building, is one of the most
beautiful scenes on the Andalusian coast. Its
original centre, which is a must to visit, spills
out it history everywhere letting us rediscover
Arabic reality that is still present in many remains
and customs of medieval origin. A few kilometres
away there is the Cabo de Gata-Nijar nature reserve
with protected flora and fauna, an exceptional eco-tourism
reference.
Fuerteventura
is the ideal place for holidays, combining a restful
break, with nature, cultural traditions and water
sports. It has always been known as the Peaceful
Island, and is the largest of the Canary Islands,
and the closest to Africa. Its landscape is
characterised by an open, generous coast, with
unbeatable extensive, tranquil, clean beaches.
Because of this, we are able to host the World
Windsurfing Championship and the International Deep-sea
Fishing Open every year. Our ports are also ideal
for sailing, diving or canoeing.
The exceptional oceanic position of Fuerteventura
has determined a historic tradition defined by its
cultural wealth, common in the Fuerteventuran
population, which is well-known for its
industriousness and tenacity. This has all resulted
in a broad patrimonial wealth which is promoted
through the chain of museums by the Fuerteventura
Inter-Island Council.
